One-minute clip reel cut together from a January 2024 shoot.
As part of a Super Bowl commercial that aired locally, I had the opportunity to film the incredible Puyallup Tribe in Washington state.
We shot boat to canoe on Commencement Bay, off Owen Beach in Point Defiance near Tacoma. The temperature was in the high 30s, with wind, sleet, and freezing rain. The bay was extremely choppy, with a very strong current. The members of the Puyallup Tribe are among the toughest (and kindest) people I have ever met. Tribal men, women, and children braved the elements, rowing their canoes against the freezing wind and strong current so we could capture their cultural traditions on camera. The literal translation of Puyallup means “people from the bend at the bottom of the river.”
